They keep your fencing line at the correct height without requiring excessive ties. Additionally, steel T-posts do not rot, warp, or split over time like wood. This helps minimize maintenance costs.
As a general engineering rule, about one-third of the total T-post length should be driven into the ground to ensure stability. For a standard 4-foot-high fence, you should use at least a 6-foot T-post. This allows 2 feet of the post to be driven into the soil, placing the anchor spade plate below the frost line.
